New Ford GT delivers top performance

How fast is the new Ford GT?

When Ford decided to bring back the iconic GT, the results were an immediate success. The car has proved extremely capable on the track, and extremely popular off of it. New information has just been revealed on the performance capabilities of the supercar. So how fast is the new Ford GT?

“The Ford GT is all about performance. We achieved considerable weight savings with the carbon fiber architecture. We then reinvested some of that savings into where it counts most – performance, specifically, the active dynamics. The result is an even faster car.” – Raj Nair, Ford Executive vice president, global product development and chief technical officer.

Ford GT Engine Power and Performance

Powering the new Ford GT is the third-generation version of the company’s 3.5-liter EcoBoost V-6 engine. This high-output version of the engine has been designed push the EcoBoost’s performance to the absolute max. The end result is an engine that produces 647 horsepower and 550 pound-feet of torque. This is the highest output ever for an engine in the EcoBoost line.

All of that power translates to a top speed of 216 miles per hour. This makes the GT the fastest production car to ever wear the Ford badge.

Ford GT Performance-Oriented Design

It takes more than just a powerful engine to offer supercar capabilities. Everything about the Ford GT has been designed with performance in mind. The car weighs in at just over 3,000 pounds, giving it a power-to-weight ratio of 4.72 pounds/horsepower. The teardrop body design of the car is meant to maximize aerodynamics and allow the car to cut through the air.

Wolf Auto offers several powerful and capable Ford models, many of which can be equipped with EcoBoost engines. Take a look at our selection to find the perfect car for you.
